EDUCATION

What language is used for educational instruction?

Education KD International School takes place in two languages: one teacher works according to the general programs of Primary education, an English speaker works according to the Cambridge Primary program.

My child ONLY knows Lithuanian (or English), is this school suitable for them?

Yes, a child can join KD International School community without knowing English or Lithuanian.

Do children receive homework?

Homework is not part of the learning process in our primary school, but occasionally children may be asked to complete projects that might take more time or need parent involvement at home. For example: constructing a robot, drawing a family tree, etc. We always recommend setting aside time for reading at home (at least 15 minutes a day).

Are children forced to learn?

At Katino Dienelės, we believe that the desire and motivation for learning have to come from within each child. We empower each child to take responsibility for their education through careful guidance from professional pedagogues who cater lessons to each child’s abilities in a purposefully prepared environment with the use of contextual education that encourage the child’s curiosity and understanding of topics from different perspectives.

How long do lessons last?

The duration of the lesson is 35 minutes in the 1st grade and 45 minutes from the 2nd grade, but we do not have a bell in the school: the time of the lesson is regulated by the teachers, taking into account the children's involvement, fatigue and needs.

Do you provide extracurricular activities for students?

During extended group activities - for an additional fee (swimming lessons, chess, pottery classes, programming (computer literacy), Spanish and Chinese, piano lessons, singing lessons, Bricks for kidz (Lego), yoga-awareness training, disco dancing, art therapy).

What is the price and duration of extracurricular classes?

Learning hours start at 8:30 a.m. and last until 3:00 p.m. Extended group activities/supervision – from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Price – 100 EUR/month. (This additional fee only applies to primary school students.)

Which digital diary (online gradebook) do you use?

ADMISSION

What is the admission fee and how much is it?

Admission fee – a one-time and non-refundable fee of EUR 400, paid when a child is admitted to school.

Kiek mėnesių trunka mokslo metai KD International School of Vilnius Mokykloje?

The school year at the primary school lasts 10 months (from the beginning of September to the end of June), but care is also organized in the educational institution during the summer holidays (additional fee – 480 EUR/month plus meals).

When are the scheduled school holidays?

We take a winter break from December 24th until January 2nd. Katino Dienelės primary school students also have 3 seasonal holidays. The dates of these holidays are confirmed by the beginning of each school year.
KD International School primary school students also have 3 seasonal holidays, the exact dates of which we confirm before the start of the new school year, but these days childcare is provided at no extra charge. Summer holidays, when the fee is not paid for education, are approved in July and August, but if necessary, the child can attend an educational institution for an additional fee (480 EUR/month plus meals).

Kokia yra maitinimo kaina KD International School of Vilnius mokykloje?

Mokestis už maitinimą – 9,40 EUR dienai. Mokestis apskaičiuojamas mėnesio pabaigoje pagal vaiko lankytas dienas. Mokestis renkamas už Confetti gaminamus ir kasdien pristatomus mums pusryčius, pietus ir pavakarius bei visos dienos metu vaikams laisvai prieinamus vaisius ir geriamąįj vandenį.

Are uniforms obligatory?

Yes, KD is in uniform at the International School it is necessary.

What will my child eat?

Healthy food – healthy body – healthy soul. Well balanced eating habits are essential for the health of a child. Children's moods, behaviour, concentration, attention, and, most importantly, physical, and mental health, depend on the food that they eat. Our nutritional program is created by specialists to make sure children are eating a wide variety of foods with the nutrients essential for health. The food at our school is catered by UAB “Desertas”, later – “Confetti.” A company renowned for providing fresh, healthy, nutritious food. If your child has special or extraordinary needs, we will make an individual menu for your child.

What should we bring on the first day of school?

• Comfortable clothes and indoor shoes so that the child can move freely in the classroom.

5) During warm months, a hat/light scarf and sunscreen
6) A water bottle (with the child’s name clearly marked)
7) A backpack, so that the child can pack needed items by themselves and develop independence
8) A hairbrush
9) Toothpaste and toothbrush (pre-school)
All these items will be left in the child’s locker or cubby.
The child's outerwear should be easy to put on/ take off (no complicated buttons, drawstrings, or fasteners). The child should be able to dress themselves as quickly as possible, without the help of a teacher.

Is there a selection process for the school? Are all applicants accepted? What else should parents of prospective students know in advance?

When enrolling in primary school, families are invited for an individual interview and introduction.
